A delegation from Wakayama Prefecture of Japan visited KNU

16-0On July 1, 2024 a meeting was held between Rector Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov and a delegation from Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. The delegation included Member of Wakayama Prefecture Ms. Mori Reiko, Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kansai region Mr. Takashi Bunno, employee of the Honorary Consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kansai region Ms. Savikina Nadezhda, as well as representatives of Wakayama University: President of Wakayama University Prof. Mitsugi Motoyama, Manager of the International Relations Department Mr. Teramoto Takumi, and International Relations Representative of Wakayama University Ms. Kazue Nakamoto. The delegation was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Japan Erkinbek Osoev.

The meeting was dedicated to strengthening cooperation between KNU and Wakayama University. During the visit, a presentation of both universities took place, and two documents were signed as follows: Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement.

“The signing of these documents is an important step in the development of bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Japan, especially in the field of education and science,” noted KNU Rector Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov. “We hope that this cooperation will strengthen scientific ties between the two universities, create new opportunities for the exchange of experience and knowledge, and also contribute to the development of university education in Kyrgyzstan,” he added.

As part of the visit of the Japanese delegation, a rich cultural program was held, including performances by the komuz ensemble and the OOEDODAIKO drummer group.

The meeting was also attended by: Director of the Kyrgyz-Japan Center from the Japanese side, Mr. Maruyama Hideaki; Director of the Kyrgyz-Japanese Center from the Kyrgyz side Almazbek Azimov; Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Jenish Beksultanov; Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Relations Baktybek Keldibekov; Dean of the Faculty of International Relations and Oriental Studies Kazak kyzy Nurgul; Head of the Department of Tourism, Recreational Geography and Ecology Narynbek uulu Kurmanbek, and the Japanese language teacher Mairam Jolbulakova.
