On December 22, 2023 the Rector of KNU Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov received representatives of the Shihezi University of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, headed by the Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages, Mr. Song Chenfang. At the meeting in the conference room of the rector’s office, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the two universities in the field of education, science and academic mobility of students and teaching staff.

Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov noted that there are three institutes associated with the PRC at KNU: the Silk Road Research Institute, the Confucius Institute and the Kyrgyz-Chinese Institute. “Therefore, we have sufficient experience of working with Chinese partners. You can convey to your management that I, as Rector, express my readiness to cooperate with your university. The Director of the Confucius Institute, Mr. Cheng Zhiguo, who is present here, will prepare an Agreement, and your leadership and I will sign it,” concluded the Rector of KNU.

Also present at the meeting were: Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Shihezi University – Mr. O Guangxin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Shihezi University – Mr. Zhu Heidong, and Teacher of the Russian language of the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Shihezi University – Ms. Wang Na.
