On November 27, 2023 the Rector of KNU Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov, received a delegation from the Institute of Commerce and Business of Xinjiang University, led by its director Mr. Wang Weizhang. At the meeting in the conference room of the Rector’s office, the parties discussed issues of further strengthening ties between the Kyrgyz National University and Xinjiang University. At the beginning of the meeting, Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov introduced the Director of the Higher School of Economics Erkin Kulova, the Director of the Institute of Management and Business Merimkul Kerimkulova. He also informed his interlocutor that three Institutes with enforced with Chinese participation function in KNU.

These are: the Silk Road Institute, the Confucius Institute and the Kyrgyz-Chinese Institute. They successfully cooperate with Chinese universities. In addition, more than 100 Chinese students, undergraduates and PhD doctoral students study at KNU.

He further noted that after the signing of the main memorandum between KNU and XU, close and comprehensive work is underway between the institutes of the two universities. “I would like to note that it was in the economic area that our institute actively interacted with your institute. We hope that now, after signing the additional agreement, our interaction will be active and our institutions can interact in such areas as bachelor’s degree 2+2, master’s degree 1+1, academic mobility, research work and conferences,” said the Rector of KNU.

The Director of the Institute of Commerce and Business of Xinjiang University, Mr. Wang Weizhang, agreed with all the proposals of Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov and noted the great importance of studying the Chinese language for the implementation of future plans. “We are ready to help with this. Today we are already conducting guest lectures for master’s students at Kyrgyz-Chinese Institute. In addition, I would like to suggest starting with teacher internships and online conferences,” he said.

Also present at the meeting were: Deputy Directors of the Higher School of Economics E.U. Nazarbekova and E.D.Kuramaeva, Head of the Department of Banking and Taxation B.B.Yesenalieva, Head of the Department of Economics J.B. Alybaev, and Chief specialist N.O. Sulaimanova.
