00

On November 23, 2023 Mr. Ahmet Sadık Doğan, the Ambassador of Turkey to Kyrgyzstan, met with the students of KNU in the large conference hall of the main building to deliver a lecture about international relations and the work of the Embassy. He also answered the students' questions. Bakyt Keldibekov, the Director of International Cooperation and Relations Department, opened the meeting and gave the speech to the Rector Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov. He noted that it is becoming a tradition for ambassadors of other countries to come to the National University and give lectures. “We know a lot about Turkey, but listening to it from Mr. Ambassador himself is much more interesting. Therefore, dear students and teachers, you can use such an opportunity to listen carefully to Mr. Ahmet Sadık Doğan’s speech, and ask questions,” he said.

Before starting his lecture, Mr. Ahmet Sadık Doğan, the Ambassador of Turkey to Kyrgyzstan, wondered which faculties’ students had come to the meeting. After learning that those sitting in the hall are students of the faculties of International Relations and Oriental Studies, Foreign Languages, and Kyrgyz Philology, he continued his lecture on the mentioned areas.

“If international relations are damaged, it will not be easy to repair them. Regional associations such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Commonwealth of Independent States, and Organization of Turkic States are important, but each state should be strong as a country,” he said addressing to the students of the Faculty of International Relations and Oriental Studies.

Addressing the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Mr. Ambassador noted that learning a language becomes more difficult with age, so the most important here is not to learn many languages, but to know two languages in an accessible and high-quality manner, especially for a diplomat.

Looking at the future philologists, Mr. Ahmet Sadık Doğan said, “Those who do not know literature do not know how to write or speak. A diplomat should add phrases from various novels and speak beautifully. It is necessary to know the customs and habits of the ancestors. As a student, you should read with pleasure and expand your worldview. Read a lot of newspapers and magazines and do art. These shape the personality. A strong character is not stubbornness, it is decisiveness and the breadth of worldview.

During the meeting, Mr. ambassador noted that it has been 2.5 years since he came to Kyrgyzstan. He has worked in Kazakhstan, Ukraine, England, Russia and Bulgaria, and according to him, it is an honor for him to be an Ambassador in Kyrgyzstan. Mr. Ahmet Sadık Doğan told the students about Turkey’s missions in the countries of the world, the work being done in Kyrgyzstan, the current events in the world and the role of the United Nations in regulating them.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Ambassador answered the students’ questions. According to the Kyrgyz tradition Rector Tolobek Abdyrakhmanov presented national kalpak hat and a cape to the Ambassador.
