On June 5, 2023, events that related to the celebration of World Environment Day were held on the square in the large conference hall in front of the main building of the National University. An art installation resembling a gray house was installed in front of the monument to Zhusup Balasagyn, and an art exhibition was organized in the lobby of the main building. The concept of the day, titled "Together for a Sustainable Future", is to encourage collective action towards a sustainable future by reducing waste and conserving natural resources. The event was attended by students of Bishkek educational institutions and environmental activists. After the opening of the event in a large conference hall, eco-activist Ismail Karypov showed a documentary film "Protection of Nature" about the fight against litter at the bottom of Issyk-Kul.

The meeting participants were congratulated by Nazarkul Ishekeyev, Vice-Rector for Research of KSU, Melis Turgunbaev, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Control of the Kyrgyz Republic, Antje Grave, UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, then Melis Turgunbaev, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Control signed a declaration on children and young people "Action against climate change".

Then a short theatrical performance "Adam", young people spoke about the rejection of plastic bags, dishes and other disposable goods.

After the event, an art installation was opened in front of the monument to Zhusup Balasagyn in a large conference hall, a flash mob of the student union for a green economy held various quizzes, contests, plastic sorting, plastic recycling, and other workshops on eco-friendly ideas, the digital artists also talked about their work. There were also held many events.

The event was organized by UN agencies, the Ministry of Nature, Ecology and Technical Control, the Kyrgyz National University.
